Tourism. The tourism industry is Scottsdale’s primary employer.  Scottsdale, in 2005, attracted 7.5 million visitors to the city, providing an economic impact of over $3.1 billion. The first resort in Scottsdale, The Ingleside Inn, opened in 1912.  The city is now home to over 70 resorts and hotels.

Leisure Business.  The Leuisure Business segment is the lifeblood of the Best Western Plus Papago Inn & Resort.  Many folks have been staying at this hotel for many years.  Some stay for up to 3 months at a time.  The hotel gets a lot of foreign travelers.

Major League Baseball (MLB). The Cactus League has 15 teams in the Phoenix Metro area.  Three of the training facilities are within an easy commute of the Best western Plus Papago Inn & Resort.  These include - Phoenix Municipal (Oakland Athletics), Scottsdale Municipal (San Francisco Giants), and Salt River Fields @ Talking Stick will be open for the 2012 season (Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies).

Barrett-Jackson.  For nearly 40 years Scottsdale has been home to one of the largest and most well attended auto auctions in the world, the Barrett-Jackson.  This is so successful that 4 more auto auctions are now held in the area during the Barrett-Jackson.

Golf.  The city is home to more than 200 golf courses.  In 2006 The Robb Report cited Scottsdale as “Americas best place to live for golf”.   The Best Western Plus Papago Inn Resort is conveniently located in the central part of the valley with easy freeway access to all.

Arizona State University (ASU).  The Tempe Campus is 3 miles south of the hotel and the ASU SkySong Innovation Park is less than one-half mile to the East of the hotel.

Casinos.  Casino Arizona has been a regular provider of room nights.

Corporate Business. General Dynamics  and SkySong both provide considerable room nights, many from foreign countries.  Several corporate travelers are attracted by the convenient location, relaxing atmosphere and reasonable rates.

Medical Treatment.  Due to the vast array of medical facilities in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area a lot of people come from all over the USA for treatment.  The Best Western Plus Papago Inn Resort is a popular “home away from home” for many.  Some are here for a week every month.  They find the hotel a cost effective pleasant place to stay with it’s  super clean rooms and friendly staff.

Scottsdale HealthCare Osborn Campus.  This 337 bed hospital is a Level I Trauma center, a certified Chest Pain Center, and a certified Primary Stroke Center.  This Hospital is just over a mile from the Best Western Plus Papago Inn Resort.

Mayo Clinic.  Located at 13400 E Shea, Scottsdale, this clinic has 240 exam rooms and draws patients from all over United States and many foreign countries.

Mayo Clinic Hospital.   This hospital is on the Phoenix Campus (near North Scottsdale) has 244 beds and 133 exam rooms.

Arizona State University (ASU), Tempe Campus.  The University is located 3 miles from the hotel.  ASU is the 2^nd largest public research University in the nation.  It now has 4 campuses in the Metro Area and 51,612 students.

Scottsdale Community College.  The college features a low 1:20 ration for teachers /students.  They have 17,010 credit  and 8,000 non-credit students.  Over 1,000 students are from over 100 countries.

International School of Arizona.  This institution is a language immersion school that teaches 2 year old pre-school children through 5^thgraders all of the required courses, plus “complex thinking and problem solving” in a bi-lingual atmosphere.  They have a French Track and a Spanish Track.
